The latest on free agents and potential transfers

The market remains open for free agents like Adrien Rabiot, who has again said no to Turkish opportunities like Galatasaray in the last 24 hours. There have been many reports, but the fact remains that Rabiot has no plans to go to Turkey as he is waiting for an opportunity in one of the top five leagues.

As of today, Rabiot is also still not opening the doors to clubs from Saudi Arabia either, so Europe remains his priority, and let’s see what happens on that front in the next days.

Meanwhile, another free agent is Memphis Depay and he is expected to complete a move to Corinthians on a two-year deal in the coming days. They are preparing all the documents and finalising the details, then Depay to Corinthians should be a ‘here we go’.

Negotiations are also ongoing over Anthony Martial and a possible move to Flamengo on a free transfer. There’s an interest from Martial, and it now depends on the financial final proposal to get it done. Pedro injured his ACL and Flamengo need a striker, so they immediately got in touch with Martial’s camp to discuss terms. Talks continue.

What’s going on at Chelsea?

There have been many reports about the ownership situation at Chelsea. It’s not really my area, as you know I’m focused on transfers, but what’s being claimed is that there is a risk of a ‘civil war’ between owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali. So, what does it mean?

It’s a tense situation as it’s being reported that Boehly and Eghbali both want to buy out the other’s stake in the club to take full ownership. We’ll see how it develops, and I don’t have any fresh information on this issue, but what I can clarify is that on the technical side at Chelsea, the mission remains the same.

The new Chelsea owners have put together a new board, and they are still working on finding the best young talents as we’ve seen from the last few years, with players like Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez, as we saw meeting at international level in the game between Brazil and Ecuador, they are the future of Chelsea, and for now the ownership situation is not affecting the transfer strategy or technical project at Stamford Bridge.

So, for today the Chelsea project is absolutely not changing – they are working on the best talents for a long-term project, for the present and future, but of course if this changes I will keep you updated.

Frenkie de Jong linked with Manchester United again

Frenkie de Jong of Barcelona

We once again this summer had many stories about Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona, and there were new links with Manchester United, as we’ve so often seen before.

The latest we’ve heard is that Man United made some contact with De Jong during a moment when they weren’t so sure if the Manuel Ugarte deal was going to happen. However, I can tell you that this summer, the reality is that there was absolutely nothing.

There was zero between De Jong and Man United, because the reality is that De Jong never wanted to leave Barcelona. De Jong is fully focused on Barcelona, and it’s also important to note that he’s too expensive for Man United – his salary is very high and so it was something impossible for United this summer.

We’ll see what happens in the future, but this summer it was also the case that United wanted a different kind of midfielder anyway, more of a defensive midfielder than De Jong. Ugarte was the only option, their top target, and so there was never any possibility to go for De Jong – between United, Ten Hag, De Jong, the player’s agents, there was absolutely zero.

Aurelien Tchouameni Real Madrid exit looks unlikely

Aurelian Tchouameni is a player we know has had admirers in the Premier League in the past before he ended up at Real Madrid, but there have once again been reports about possible interest from Arsenal and Liverpool for summer 2025, so I wanted to clarify something here.

It’s true that two years ago Tchouameni had the opportunity to join Liverpool before then going to Real Madrid. Jurgen Klopp was calling the player on a daily basis, trying to change his mind, but the Frenchman was clear that he only wanted to go to Real Madrid.

As for now, I can guarantee that nothing has changed between Tchouameni and Real Madrid – their relationship is fantastic. Tchouameni is very happy at Real Madrid, and only focused on Real Madrid. Also Real Madrid, the president, manager Carlo Ancelotti, the technical staff, they all love Tchouameni. From what I hear he’s a really professional guy, and popular with his teammates in the dressing room.

So, forget about rumours about Tchouameni – as of now, there is no expectation for him to leave. Of course I can’t predict what can happen in the future, but at the moment the intension is absolutely for Tchouameni and Real Madrid to continue together.

Bayern considered Inter left-back

Federico Dimarco scored a fantastic goal for Italy in their win over France, and in general he continues to be a strong performer for his country, as well as for his club Inter Milan. Although he has a strong relationship with Inter, I can also reveal there as interest in him earlier in the summer.

Although there was never a negotiation, Bayern Munich discussed internally the possibility of moving for Dimarco as they considered replacements at left-back in case Alphonso Davies were to leave the club amid the interest from Real Madrid.

Dimarco was one of the names discussed by Bayern, though not the only one, he was one of three names, but they never ended up making contact with Inter because Davies ended up staying, and also because Dimarco was never going to leave Inter. Their relationship is really strong, they absolutely want to continue together.

Still, Bayern thought about this possibility, and let’s see if they look into it again depending on what happens with Davies next summer. It’s important, however, to say that from Dimarco and Inter’s perspective, there is absolutely no intention to part ways.

The latest on Jamal Musiala’s future

We continue to see stories about Jamal Musiala, which is normal given his superb performances and his current contract situation at Bayern Munich, with his deal due to expire in 2026.

Bayern have been pushing for months to extend Musiala’s contract and this remain one of their main missions. Bayern will insist again with a big proposal; he’s in the list of all the top European clubs, this is very normal, but it all depends on what happens with Bayern in talks.

I can also confirm some other Bayern reports, as Bild have claimed Federico Chiesa was an option for them earlier in the summer, before he ended up joining Liverpool.

Bayern were offered this possibility in June but their top target was always a different kind of player like Olise. Different player, different skills. They appreciated Chiesa but they were not looking for that kind of player.

Thoughts on England as Lee Carsley opens with win

Finally, England had a convincing 2-0 win over the Republic of Ireland yesterday, with Declan Rice and Jack Grealish scoring the goals.

Overall I thought it was a very good performance. “Impressed” would probably be a bit too much, as it was a normal game with zero pressure, but still a good performance for sure.

Declan Rice’s development has been great this year, he’s progressed really well at Arsenal and for sure he’s one of the best midfielders around now. He took his goal well and continues to be a key player for England.

On Lee Carsley, I still think it’s a very open race for the manager’s job and nothing is decided yet for the permanent job.

A fantastic achievement for Ronaldo

What a fantastic achievement for Ronaldo – 900 goals!

I’m sure he will keep playing for some years and only he knows how long, but the end is not near yet and his performances remain excellent.

He’s a true footballing legend.

All quiet for Kovavic, Alisson and Rodri

The transfer window closed a few days ago and we have heard many rumours already.

What I can say guys is that, no, there’s nothing at this stage regarding Mateo Kovacic moving to the Saudi Pro League. No talks, nothing.

In January we will see and his future will also depend on how much he will play, but nothing is ongoing now. I don’t know where this is coming from.

On the rumours for Alisson, it’s the same as Kovacic, nothing at all.

Mentioning a target today for a club in July 2025 is a guess job, and I’m not into it guys.

The Saudis have appreciated Alisson for a long time but that’s it. Predicting his future means inventing stuff.

No news either on Rodri now guys, it’s completely quiet. Full focus on City for Rodri.

Very clear message for Osimhen suitors

So guys, the Turkish market is still open but the biggest move for the Turkish market, and also in general, was for Victor Osimhen.

It’s finally official. Osimhen is a new Galatasaray player on loan from Napoli but with no buy option and no obligation. The player will return to Napoli, and Napoli have secured an option to extend his contract in 2027.

What does that mean?

Napoli will have the opportunity to extend the contract but with a new release clause. Victor Osimhen’s previous one was €130m, and that caused problems this summer when trying to find a solution for the player.

PSG were interested in Osimhen in July but they were never going to pay €130m.

Starting from 2025 when Napoli can activate the option to extend the contract, the clause will reduce to €75m, which sends a very clear message to all the clubs still interested in Victor Osimhen.

Casemiro and Antony going nowhere despite rumours

In the last 24 hours, we had two stories related to Manchester United players that I was checking. One is Casemiro, because it’s not been an easy beginning of the season for him.

A poor game against Liverpool can happen, but Erik ten Hag decided to back him and support him after the game, saying he’s a serial winner. He’s a top professional. He’s going to be back at the top level.

It’s not a secret that Man United were open to selling Casemiro this summer, but there was never a concrete proposal on the table to help make a deal happen.

Now, we’ve had rumours about Galatasaray and Casemiro because the Turkish market is still open and Galatasaray are always very active.

What I’m told is that in this moment, the clear message is that Casemiro is going nowhere, because Manchester United already sold Scott McTominay and have no intention to lose one more midfielder.

The expectation I have is for Casemiro is to leave Manchester United in 2025, and we will see if it’s going to be January or in the summer. It will depend on opportunities.

Lots has been said or written about Casemiro and any pundit has his or her own opinion of course, but I’m no one to support any other views.

My personal opinion is that sometimes PL football could be too intense for Casemiro, but he remains an important player and his career must be respected. Ugarte will help to rotate and have a fresher Casemiro sometimes.

The other rumour was about Antony and Spanish clubs.

I can tell you, in the final days of the summer transfer window, Real Betis tried to explore a move but both United and the player were not convinced about this possibility.

So, nothing happened with Real Betis, and the rumours linking Fenerbahçe because Jose Mourinho is looking for a winger is not happening. This is a very clear statement from people close to the player.

Dani Carvajal to negotiate new Real Madrid contract

Some important words from Dani Carvajal, confirming, once again, after the fantastic season he had – winning every title with Real Madrid, scoring in a Champions League final, winning the Euros with Spain and being included in the final nominees for the Ballon d’Or – the intention to negotiate a new deal with Real Madrid.

The club have already negotiated with several players, including Ferland Mendy, and in the next weeks and months, Real Madrid will have conversations with the agents of Dani Carvajal because the idea is to continue together.

Carvajal also said something similar to Nacho, who always said that there is no intention, when and if they will leave Madrid, to continue in Europe.

These players don’t want to get paid to play against Real Madrid, so when the time comes for Carvajal, the idea is to go elsewhere.

It could be Saudi, could be MLS, could be Qatar, but no intention to continue in Europe in what was a very clear message from Dani Carvajal.

I’m told that talks to extend his contract will take place because there are positive feelings on all sides.

Then, in the future, we will see.

Mo Salah’s story at Liverpool isn’t over yet

Mo Salah has been fantastic of late but a lot has been made of that recent interview.

I came here guys to tell you again that it doesn’t mean that Mo Salah is 100% leaving Liverpool, but he’s waiting to have a conversation with the club.

And this remains the point.

I can confirm once again, that Liverpool and Mo Salah will talk in the next days, weeks and months. I can’t predict now how long the conversation will be, but there will be discussions around Mo Salah’s contract situation. The story isn’t over yet.

At this point, it’s a possibility that he could leave as a free agent in the summer yes, but it’s not guaranteed at all because Liverpool want to talk to Salah, and Salah wants to talk to Liverpool.

He’s very happy with the new project, with Arne Slot, the new directors and the new management but his situation is similar to Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold. These conversations will help to understand if Mo Salah and Liverpool can continue together in the future, or part ways.

So, the discussion will take place and let’s see what happens financially and in terms of the length of the contract.

Rabiot situation is very surprising

I’m very surprised by the Adrien Rabiot situation!

He rejected a €7m net salary proposal from Juventus and then he still didn’t find a new club. The issue is just financial, because many clubs were keen on signing him but it was too expensive.

It’s still an open situation so let’s see what happens next.

Simple reason why Eze stayed at Crystal Palace

I want to clear up any confusion regarding Eberechi Eze, guys, as the England international didn’t leave Crystal Palace this summer.

There was a release clause in his contract with the Eagles, so the situation this summer was never about whether the club would have accepted or declined offers for Eze or not.

If any club had come in and paid the release clause, there was nothing Palace could’ve done about it and the decision to move would’ve rested with Eze himself.

No club did trigger the release clause and there were no concrete contacts so in the end, that was the reason he remained at Selhurst Park.

Man City for sure had him on their list in 2023, and it’s true that Tottenham appreciate him, but there was never any formal bid presented from either club or any other this summer.

As Steve Parish said, everything was quiet.

Time for Fabio Vieira to return to playing regular football

The situation with Fabio Vieira is also a simple one to understand.

Firstly, it’s time for him to return to playing regular football every week, which is the expectation with the loan to Porto, and something he hasn’t been able to achieve to this point with Arsenal.

The loan deal will also allow Arsenal to monitor his progress over the course of the 2024/25 season and then assess things again in 2025.

At that point there will need to be a conversation between Mikel Arteta, the player and his representatives.

By then, the attacking midfielder will be 25 years of age and a definitive decision about his career one way or the other will need to be made.

I can guarantee that no plans are in place at the moment and no final decision has been made for Fabio Vieira.

This is why the move is a straight loan.

Nothing concrete to report on Angel Gomes’ situation

Many clubs are following and scouting Angel Gomes, but in this moment there’s nothing concrete or specific to report.

Any ‘interest’ mentioned now would be guesswork and as you know guys, I don’t work in this way.

It’s just normal monitoring of a very good player, who has just made the England squad after impressing at Lille.

England coach, Lee Carsley, has clearly seen something that he likes, and with fixtures against the Republic of Ireland and Finland coming up in the next few days, it does offer Gomes the perfect opportunity to be able to show how much he’s improved of late.

At 24, the former Manchester United player looks to be on the verge of a special moment in his career.

No Messi or Ronaldo in the Ballon d’Or nominee list

The full list of this year’s Ballon d’Or nominees have now been released, and it’s the first time since 2003 that both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are not in the final 30 names.

It’s almost the end of a spectacular era for the game but both players will be remembered forever. As much for the joy they’ve brought to so many fans as well as the multiple awards that each have won.

I won’t comment on my favourite candidate for this year’s award, but in general I think it was a fair list.

It’s almost an impossible job to narrow down the names and I’d have probably added Rodrygo, Xavi Simons and Frimpong. Rodrygo has even gone on social media already to show his feelings about his omission.

There are some big names in the final 30:

Jude Bellingham, Ruben Dias, Phil Foden, Federico Valverde, Emiliano Martinez, Erling Haaland, Nico Williams, Granit Xhaka, Artem Dovbyk, Toni Kroos, Vinicius Jr., Dani Olmo, Florian Wirtz, Martin Ødegaard, Mats Hummels, Rodri, Harry Kane, Declan Rice, Vitinha, Cole Palmer, Dani Carvajal, Lamine Yamal, Bukayo Saka, Hakan Calhanoglu, William Saliba, Kylian Mbappe, Lautaro Martinez, Ademola Lookman, Toni Rudiger and Alejandro Grimaldo.

Newcastle still in for Guehi… but Palace making it very difficult

At the moment, it’s still very difficult for Newcastle to land Marc Guehi.

The deal is not 100% off yet and Newcastle will try until the end, but Palace are insisting on their valuation being met so it remains complicated.

Palace have always been making it difficult for Newcastle this summer and they’re not changing their position now either.

No interest in Gyokeres and Ivan Toney’s future still up in the air

There has been zero movement for Viktor Gyökeres this summer. Nothing at all.

For Ivan Toney, he remains a strong option for Al Ahli if Osimhen goes to Chelsea… or he can be an option for Chelsea if Osimhen goes to Al Ahli.

As of Thursday night, nothing is clear and we have to be patient and see what happens.

There could be surprises.

Could be a busy final day for Chelsea

I’m told that someone from Brentford called Chelsea for Ben Chilwell. Well, let’s see if they will make a bid on deadline day or not.

For Trevoh Chalobah, we heard about Stuttgart. Fake news. I’m told that Stuttgart are not working on a deal for Chalobah but there are other clubs interested, also from England, so there could be movement.

Just to give you an example, there are many clubs looking at defenders for the final day, like Crystal Palace, so there could be opportunities for Chalobah.

And then there is Raheem Sterling.

We’ll have to see what happens with Jadon Sancho first because Sancho is another big topic, but as of Thursday night the deal for him to go to Juventus is in total standby. Man United rejected the improved bid from Juventus yesterday.

What about Chelsea? Chelsea are obviously very busy with the Victor Osimhen deal, but they are keeping contacts active in the Sancho story.

Chelsea are working on it, then let’s see what they will get in the next 24 hours.

A lot of noise around Lindelof but everything is calm

There’s a lot of noise in the media at the moment about Victor Lindelof, but it’s always been quiet.

Nothing is happening with Turkish or Italian clubs, and United are not desperate to sell the player as Ten Hag still appreciates him and he’s very calm.

No movements so far.

No Liverpool contact for Alan Varela

I’m receiving many questions from Liverpool fans on Alan Varela.

We always have these kind of stories ahead of headline day so I was checking with my sources on this story, because Varela is a fantastic midfielder. I could spend two hours talking about him.

Many clubs have had an interest in Varela this summer but the answer from Porto has always been the same; he is only leaving for the release clause of €65m.

What I can tell you is that Porto guarantee that they have had no contact from Liverpool, no bid from them.

Their position is clear. If some clubs are interested in Varela, they have to pay €65m, but Porto absolutely want him to stay.

Porto are not open to negotiating, and also want to change his contract in the next month. So, that’s the situation.

Now is not the time to speculate on Pep Guardiola’s future

I understand Fabio Capello has hinted that Pep Guardiola could leave Man City next summer.

I’ve zero information on this now guys, it’s not a topic for August. Pep will decide later, not in August or early September.

I respect Fabio Capello of course but again, zero concrete information on Guardiola now, it’s all speculation.

Barça can’t afford Adrien Rabiot and he remains available

Let me say this about the rumours placing Adrien Rabiot at Barca guys…

Barca had problems with La Liga when trying to sign Bajcetic on loan, and Rabiot’s salary is probably x4 compared to Bajcetic…

It’s difficult to imagine this deal happening for that reason.

It’s all quiet at Barca at the moment because of La Liga and Financial Fair Play, and as for Rabiot, he is still waiting for an opportunity.

He remains available.

My favourite deal of the summer window is…

My favourite deal of the summer transfer window so far has been probably Joao Neves to PSG.

I consider him a top talent and probably underrated.

He was very good value when he signed for PSG and I think it’s been a great piece of business.

Chelsea still in the race for Victor Osimhen

There have been many reports on the Victor Osimhen story in the last 24-48 hours, but some of these are, from what I’m hearing, not 100% accurate, so I wanted to clear that up here.

First of all, if you’ve been following me on here, you’ll know I always said Osimhen was going to be something for the final days of the window. The only club that had the chance to change this was Paris Saint-Germain back in July – they had an agreement with Osimhen back then, but then everything collapsed.

Then, in August, Napoli and Chelsea started to talk about Osimhen, as well as Romelu Lukaku and these kind of things. I always said that Osimhen would not go on loan – it would have to be a permanent transfer or a loan with obligation. So, now we’re at the final days, what’s going on?

Al Ahli have a delegation in Italy to meet with Napoli and the agent of Osimhen. Meanwhile, Chelsea are still talking with Osimhen and his agent – they are still in a negotiation for Osimhen, as of late last night.

Al Ahli have presented a very important proposal to Osimhen, worth €25-30m per season for the next four years. It’s not true that the player doesn’t want to go to Saudi. He’s never said no to Saudi, he’s never rejected them, despite the statement from his agent. Al Ahli never gave up on this deal, they are still there.

The most important thing for Osimhen, however, is a release clause. He always wanted a release clause with Al Ahli and they have accepted this. They have basically given Osimhen everything he wants – everything is on the table for Osimhen to go to Saudi, and talks are also taking place with Napoli.

But it’s important to say that Chelsea are still not giving up on this deal. Osimhen is still talking to Chelsea and waiting to see if they can reach an agreement – he is giving them a chance, and forget any stories about deadlines, it’s the final two days of the window so it’s obvious that there is not much time to get this done and the next 24 hours will be important, but there is no deadline being set by Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea?

So, now it’s important to see if Chelsea can make it happen on the salary point of view and the transfer fee point of view. They have a chance because Al Ahli have made Osimhen exactly the proposal he wants, but he’s still waiting, and it’s on Chelsea to reach an agreement, or he’ll be ready to go to Saudi. It’s not easy for Chelsea to compete with the kind of money the Saudis can offer, but they are really making an effort.

Jhon Duran also remains super appreciated by Enzo Maresca and people at Chelsea, but it looks really complicated now because Aston Villa would need to sign a replacement and there’s not much time left. Ivan Toney could be an opportunity for the final hours, because if Chelsea or other clubs who are interested in a striker find that other strikers are not available, then Toney is there. But as of last night, Chelsea are still trying to find a way for Osimhen.

One in, one out in midfield for Manchester United, plus truth about those Ben Chilwell links

Scott McTominay will be in Napoli today, ready for his medical tests and contract signing. Manchester United will receive €30.5m and a 10% sell-on clause – it’s 100% confirmed. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte is coming in at Man United and has been in Manchester already for the formal steps.

Rio Ferdinand has spoken out to warn United about selling McTominay and I can see what he means, even if it’s not an easy situation. The player wanted to play regularly, Napoli can offer that. But I agree with Rio when he says that Scott is probably an underrated, important player and I really rate him. It’s a fantastic signing for Napoli; but for United it was the only way to get the green light on the Ugarte deal.

I also wanted to clarify some further Man United transfer rumours about Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell. We’ve heard this story a few times, but my understanding is that there are no talks, no negotiations have taken place. United are not looking to sign Chilwell, it’s not happening.

Stefan Bajcetic saga and the truth about Darwin Nunez transfer speculation

I wanted to clarify the situation with Stefan Bajcetic as it’s been an important few hours at Liverpool. Firstly, everything was agreed for Bajcetic to move on loan to Red Bull Salzburg, but then Barcelona called and presented Liverpool with a proposal for a loan. It was a €4m loan fee, with no buy option or obligation, and Barca also called the player to try to persuade him.

So, what happened? While Barcelona tried to make this deal happen, they also had big issues with Financial Fair Play, so it was an issue for them to get the green light from La Liga. They spent all day trying to find a way with La Liga, but as of now, still nothing has been approved, so the expectation of the agents of the player, and of Salzburg and of Liverpool and all parties involved, is for Bajcetic to travel tomorrow to Salzburg and complete his move there.

Pep Lijnders, the Salzburg manager and former assistant of Jurgen Klopp, has been calling Bajcetic all day long – he’s been fighting to get the player and to present the project to him in the best way possible. Salzburg are now confident of getting it done.

Staying with Liverpool, I also wanted to say something on Darwin Nunez after some surprise stories about Arsenal. I don’t know where this has come from, but I’ve had many questions about this and so I spoke to some of my sources, and I can honestly say there is nothing.

In general, it’s also not true that Nunez is pushing to leave Liverpool – it’s important to clarify that he is absolutely not planning to leave Liverpool, I can guarantee this. He is really focused on Liverpool and really happy with Arne Slot. Of course it will be an important season for him, but it’s never been a possibility for him to leave this summer and he never asked to go.

As reported yesterday, it’s ‘here we go’ for Federico Chiesa to Liverpool, and I also wanted to clarify that Barcelona never made any bid for the player. It was never anything concrete, and in the end Liverpool moved really fast, though they had also been thinking of Chiesa for a long time. Richard Hughes knows Italian football really well, and he knew Chiesa was a fantastic opportunity.

He’s a player who’s been unlucky with injuries, but I think it’s also important to say that he was unlucky to be at Juventus under a manager like Massimiliano Allegri, who was playing a style of football that was not a good fit for a player like Chiesa. If you look at how Liverpool play, it looks like a very good deal.

Arsenal continue to do well with player sales, but Jakub Kiwior is staying

Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton is a ‘here we go’. The goalkeeper will have his medical today as he’s set to join for a £25m package. And remember that Arsenal have been prepared to go for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia in order to replace Ramsdale.

He was in the list of Wolves and Bournemouth but they both didn’t want to invest £25m on a GK, Southampton yes and it was quite fast. I think it was a good summer for Arsenal especially on sales, Edu did an important job. It’s never easy to sell players.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have told Jakub Kiwior and his agents two days ago that he has to stay as he’s going to be an important player for them this season. Kiwior was never desperate to leave – he rejected approaches from Premier League and he was only open to returning to Italy, but it was never close.

There have been plenty of stories about a possible Reiss Nelson exit as well, but it depends on proposals, and while I’m writing there is still nothing close on this one.

In other news…

Trevoh Chalobah – Chelsea are still trying to find a solution for Trevoh Chalobah, and his agents too. It’s an open story ahead of the final 48 hours. There’s no lack of suitors but Chelsea have been asking for a permanent move for £30m and it’s difficult for many clubs to invest this kind of money.

Matheus Nunes – Despite rumours, there is nothing concrete into this one as far as I’m aware. Manchester City have not received any bid for Matheus Nunes so far, and my information is that Atletico Madrid can only do a loan which is probably leading them to different candidates.

Rayan Cherki – There is no major update on Cherki now, the situation is open. He’s not interested in a move to Fulham despite some recent reports, and I would not be surprised if he ends up staying at Lyon. PSG were never back in the race in August, it was a fake story.

Jadon Sancho open to joining Chelsea

Many of you have been asking me about the situation with Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling, so let’s start with this story. Firstly, the news that Sancho could leave Manchester United is not really new, it’s something we’ve been saying for weeks, and the situation hasn’t really changed much since yesterday.

So, to clarify, Juventus are in discussions with the agents of Sancho, and also with Manchester United over a loan deal with a buy clause – United want it to be an obligation to buy, while Juve want it to be an option to buy.

What about Chelsea? They consider Sancho an opportunity, and if Man United want to take one player in the deal, such as Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell or any other player who could leave Chelsea, then they would be more than happy to do the deal. Chelsea’s position is that they would be more than happy to sign Sancho, but it has to also mean United taking one of the players they don’t want in the squad.

To summarise, Sancho is wanted by both Chelsea and Juventus – both clubs are working on the deal but with different perspectives. Chelsea will only consider the Sancho deal with a swap including one of their players who are not part of the project, like Raheem Sterling.

Juventus, meanwhile, are in talks with United over loan move for Sancho with buy clause, but also the salary coverage is key point. For now my understanding is that Sancho is open to both moves, so it depends on the clubs.

Federico Chiesa transfer would be fantastic for Liverpool

Liverpool are working on the Federico Chiesa deal – they are talking to Juventus and also to the agent of the player. Liverpool are understanding the conditions of the deal, with Juve asking for around €15m for the player, who can leave as a free agent next summer.

The salary will also be a crucial point, and this is one of the things Liverpool are discussing. Talks are ongoing, let’s see what happens, but of course if Chiesa ends up leaving Juventus, this could help them improve their proposal for a replacement like Jadon Sancho.

For me, Chiesa would be a fantastic signing – he is the perfect fit for Liverpool, he’s fast, and he deserves to play in a team with offensive football like Liverpool as Juventus under Allegri were too defensive.

Federico Chiesa could be a perfect signing for Liverpool

In terms of other similar targets for Liverpool, I’m not aware of other players being considered at the moment, my name for Liverpool is Federico Chiesa.

Staying with Liverpool, there is still no update so far on the future of Joe Gomez. Interest from many clubs like Crystal Palace, Fulham and more remains, but there is nothing concrete yet on club-to-club talks or with an official bid. It remains one to watch but Gomez could also end up staying at Liverpool.

The latest on Victor Osimhen, Ivan Toney and possible transfers to Chelsea or Saudi

I wanted to clarify the situation with Victor Osimhen as it’s another important story for the final days of the window. Some people have been mentioning Paris Saint-Germain, but the information I have is that the last contact between Osimhen and PSG was in the final week of July – that was the last moment that Osimhen, his agents, or anyone from the Napoli board spoke to PSG.

So, for the moment PSG are not working on the deal for Osimhen, that’s the reality, and if it changes I will update you, but for now it’s absolutely not happening. I can guarantee, however, that Chelsea and Al Ahli are both still working on the Osimhen deal. Al Ahli already have an agreement with Napoli for €65m, so that’s okay, but what’s missing is the agreement between Osimhen and the Saudi club.

Still, I can guarantee that Al Ahli are still working to convince Osimhen and to reach an agreement with him. But, Chelsea are also still there, while Ivan Toney could also be an option for both of these clubs if they don’t sign Osimhen.

So, Ivan Toney could definitely be one to watch in the final days. It’s important to remember that Brentford are still asking for important money. They rejected a bid of around £37m-£38m from Al-Ahli in the past week, but conversations remain active with the club. Let’s see what happens there, and with the other clubs in England.

Another Chelsea story that has been doing the rounds is with Axel Disasi’s future possibly being in doubt and with Newcastle one of the names linked. However, I have no concrete updates so far, it looks like a quiet situation at the moment. Let’s see what happens between Newcastle and Marc Guehi but for Disasi I don’t have anything fresh yet.

Thoughts on Arsenal’s Mikel Merino signing, plus Aaron Ramsdale opportunity

The deal for Justin Bijlow to Southampton is off after he failed a medical and returned to Feyenoord, so now Southampton are considering a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale instead. Ramsdale was always on their list, and Arsenal want a loan with an obligation to buy.

As a replacement, Arsenal want to buy Joan Garcia from Espanyol to provide cover for first choice David Raya. This is the idea, and Arsenal have an agreement already with Garcia, and they’re just waiting to see what happens with Ramsdale.

Of course, we also know now that Mikel Merino is an Arsenal player after yesterday’s official announcement, and it comes as Manuel Ugarte to Manchester United also became a ‘here we go’ earlier on yesterday. Some fans have been asking me about these two deals and for a comparison on who’s getting the better midfielder.

Still, they are completely different players in my opinion, I’d say it’s impossible to compare. However, I feel these are both excellent moves – Merino is perfect for what Arsenal needed as he brings balance and quality. Man United needed a player with Ugarte’s skills and they only only wanted him, he was the priority number one since June. I think Merino in particular is going to surprise a lot of people, and for €32m plus add-ons it’s excellent business by Arsenal.

Finally, former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has retired from professional football after he recently terminated his contract with Juventus. This took some people by surprise, but I’m not surprised as he always thought it’s the top level or retiring. From what I know about him he’s a smart guy, an excellent person – he didn’t want to go somewhere just for the sake of it. I have no idea of his plans now for his post-playing career, we will have to wait and see what he decides.

Lots happening at Chelsea with Sterling situation one of many to be clarified

The Raheem Sterling situation is a question for Chelsea, not for me.

At the moment I can only say the information that I have, and that is they insist on a permanent sale. Maybe a loan under certain conditions can be enough to get the green light, but this is just my opinion and not something guaranteed.

Chelsea are still exploring opportunities for a striker and on Osimhen, as I told you, nothing will happen this weekend, this situation is one for the final days. I always told you this.

Let’s see if Chelsea will be able to find a way with Napoli and with the player, because the player doesn’t want a loan and Chelsea don’t want to pay a crazy salary. It’s still complicated, and Saudi Arabia remains a possibility for Osimhen.

Chelsea are also keeping a close eye on the defenders market for the final days too, because if there will be a last minute opportunity on a defender, Chelsea could be still interested in covering that position again. It depends on what happens.

We know the focus now is on the outgoings. Broja, Sterling and also Chalobah is really important…

So, in terms of incomings, keep an eye on the striker situation, as another player they still like is Jhon Duran, and then a potential last minute centre-back. Again, it’s not guaranteed, it’s not sure, but they are discussing.

All go at Juventus but still no Koopmeiners agreement

Juventus have closed two important deals for wingers.

One is Nico Gonzalez, the Argentinian winger from Fiorentina, on a €38m package with a medical today, and the other one is Francisco Conceição from Porto on a loan deal with no buy option included – but the player will cost €7m plus three in add-ons for the loan.

Then, what’s going to happen next summer? He will have a release clause around €35m at Porto, and the idea of Juventus and Porto in the next days is to do a private agreement for Juventus to have priority to sign Conceição for the amount of the clause next summer.

Let’s see what’s going to happen with Conceição but for sure, a double ‘here we go’ for Juventus.

Juve are also still working to sign Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta.

The exclusive news a few weeks ago was that Juventus presented a new official bid to Atalanta; €52m, seven in add-ons. They’re really pushing on this one with a big proposal, and as of today are still waiting for an Atalanta decision.

What I can tell you, once again, is that Koopmeiners only wants to go to Juventus. Even when some Premier League clubs started calling to understand the situation of Koopmeiners, the idea of the player was Juventus number one, Juventus number two, Juventus number three.

Now it’s on Juventus to complete the agreement with Atalanta.

Jadon Sancho remains one to watch in the final days of the transfer window

As I told you several times guys, the situation of Jadon Sancho remains open. Sancho has always been one to watch, and Juventus remain in contact with the agents of the player and with Manchester United.

For Juventus, obviously the formula has to be a different kind of formula compared to what Manchester United wanted.

Manchester United were thinking of a permanent transfer but Juventus will not do a permanent deal in the final days, so it has to be a loan with a buy option clause with the salary to be discussed.

That’s because Juventus will not cover the entire salary of Jadon Sancho, so that exchange is still ongoing. Let’s see what Juventus will decide to do.

In general, the Sancho situation is still open because he could leave Man United – and the reason why Sancho was not in the squad is that he’s also open to leaving Man United.

Anything can happen for and for sure, he’s going to be one to watch for the final days.

Napoli interest in McTominay is genuine, as Ugarte keeps pushing for United switch

As we’re mentioning Manchester United, keep a close eye on Scott McTominay because the interest of Napoli is genuine.

Napoli will sign two midfielders, now they have to decide who. They spoke with Amrabat, and though they had a bid (€25m, rejected) for McTominay, their interest remains strong.

They have an agreement in principle for Billy Gilmour but are still waiting on the final green light to confirm his medical and travel. A decision will be made soon, but both McTominay and Gilmour remain on Napoli’s list.

Let’s see how the conversation goes between Napoli and Man United in the next hours, in the next days, and see what happens with McTominay.

Keep an eye also on the situation of a new midfielder for Manchester United.

United will sign a new midfielder, and the player is Manuel Ugarte. I know there were many questions from you about Ederson from Atalanta, many reports on the Brazilian midfielder, but no, Manchester United are only working on Manu Ugarte, and Manu Ugarte is only waiting for United.

This is the story from the end of July with his agent, Jorge Mendes, on it.

The expectation is for Man United to give the final green light to the deal in the next days, and I will keep you posted.

Kingsley Coman remains a big market opportunity

Let me tell you, once again, keep a close eye on Kingsley Coman in the final days, because Coman could be an option for Premier League clubs and could be an option for Barcelona.

He’s appreciated by Hansi Flick, but the salary is expensive. Federico Chiesa is still on the list at Barcelona but Coman is still waiting for a move and Coman still has chances to move.

It could be an initial loan with buy clause, so a big opportunity on the market, but he’s on a big salary, on a big contract, and this is why the clubs are waiting until the last minute to try to find the best deal possible with Kingsley Coman.

Liverpool deserve respect on Trent situation, and fans need to be patient on signings

I’m always publishing what I know and what I can say, so at the moment there’s still nothing to report on Liverpool.

I understand the frustration for Liverpool fans but, for example, Zubimendi was a top target, Liverpool were convinced to get the green light and it didn’t happen. So Liverpool want to be careful and only go for it now if they are 100% sure.

What I can say once again is that contacts are taking place, so let’s see!

On Trent Alexander-Arnold, I don’t think there’s one club in the world not rating TAA… obviously all clubs like him, but Liverpool do too and Liverpool deserve respect in this story.

They will have their chance to keep Trent at the club and extend his contract, let’s see how talks will go. Real Madrid appreciation is something I mentioned in March, but at the moment there’s nothing else fresh or concrete to add.

Nothing has changed, I can guarantee that.

In other news…

Despite lots of rumours that Southampton could be the next destination for Aaron Ramsdale, my information is that the Saints are signing Justin Bijlow as a new goalkeeper from Feyenoord, the agreement is almost done. So my expectation is for Bijlow to join Southampton and let’s see what happens with Ramsdale, several clubs are keen but Arsenal want a guaranteed sale.

For Armando Broja, there’s always been interest from Everton but no fresh bid while I’m writing this column. It’s just one of the clubs being interested since June then nothing else in terms of bids or contacts. I can confirm that Broja and Chelsea have started to look at different options as the Ipswich deal is currently in danger.

West Ham advancing on Soler deal as they keep working hard on sales

I only know that West Ham are working to sell some players, but nothing more than this at the moment.

Let’s see in the next days, as I don’t have anything imminent on outgoings yet.

For Carlos Soler, West Ham keep working and advancing as they want him, and talks took place on both the club and player side.

Al Hilal’s big proposal for Cancelo

Joao Cancelo has a big proposal from Al Hilal on the table, but Al Hilal still don’t have total agreement with Man City or with the player.

They are waiting to see what he wants to do.

Barcelona remain interested in Cancelo for sure and talks with Jorge Mendes continue… but it’s up to the player and the proposal they are able to make.

Everton aren’t close to Kieran Trippier… yet

Kieran Trippier’s agents are gonna explore several options for their client, but there’s nothing imminent on this one at the moment.

Trippier can leave but guys, let me be clear, he could also end up staying at Newcastle in case they don’t find a good solution.

It’s about explorative talks now, nothing close with Everton or any other club yet.

Dybala rejects Saudi switch at the last minute

Paulo Dybala was very, very close to joining the Saudi side Al-Qadsiah, to play with Nacho and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The possibility of him leaving Roma was absolutely strong and concrete.

The agreement had been there since last week, and Roma and Al-Qadsiah were finalising the deal.

But the Paulo Dybala story changed completely on Thursday night. The player rejected the chance to earn €75m over three years because he wanted to stay at Roma.

Big, big news guys.

Mamardashvili to Liverpool is almost done

For Liverpool, the story of the day is still Giorgi Mamardashvili, because they are closing in on the signing.

Let me say that there is an agreement on the fee between Liverpool and Valencia, €35m plus a loan clause.

So, the contract is okay but there is still work to do between the two clubs on the payment terms and deal structure.

When Liverpool will pay this money? Valencia need it as soon as possible so they can reinvest on the market.

Remember that this deal is for summer 2025 so Mamardashvili will sign for Liverpool now and stay at Valencia on loan for one season.

Nothing will happen with Osimhen until the final days of the window

Guys, I can guarantee that as of today, there is still no substantial update on Victor Osimhen.

I know there are many Chelsea fans that keep asking, but as I keep telling you, Osimhen to Chelsea is only a topic for the final days of the window, not today, not yesterday, not tomorrow, for the final days alone.

Osimhen doesn’t want to go on loan, as I told you, and doesn’t want to reduce his salary, so let’s see if they can find a way, or maybe if some other door could open for Osimhen.

The only club to have an agreement on the contract this summer was Paris Saint-Germain in July, then talks between PSG and Napoli were very complicated, and so PSG left the negotiations.

There is nothing regarding Arsenal’s reported interest from what I know, and it’s also not about which team are the favourites to sign him, it’s about who can agree with Napoli and with the player.

Let’s see what’s going to happen in the final days, but at the moment, it’s still quiet.

Barca still weighing up many market opportunities

I see many questions about Barca, and obviously the hot topic remains the wingers.

Barca are looking at opportunities on the market like Kingsley Coman, who is still a name to watch, as well as Federico Chiesa, who is available.

I have been made aware of the situation, but at the moment there is still no bid to Juventus.

Chiesa is also represented by the same agent who looks after Marc Pubill, another player that’s being linked to FC Barcelona.

In recent hours he was going to Atalanta, then he didn’t pass part of the initial medical tests and the deal collapsed.

Despite the reports, there are no updates on Jadon Sancho and Barca so far.

There are several other opportunities on the market and Barça will take some days to decide, so we will wait and see what’s going to happen there.

Initial talks but no movement for Stefan Bajcetic

No updates on Stefan Bajcetic.

There’s nothing concrete to report yet, just initial talks but not advancing.

He was on Real Sociedad’s list as part of the Zubimendi talks, but nothing has happened since Zubi decided to reject Liverpool.

Raheem Sterling talks planned, plus other Chelsea exits

We’re heading towards the end of the window and many things are happening at Chelsea as always, with the Blues now very busy on outgoings. As we know, Conor Gallagher has been announced as a new Atletico Madrid player, with Joao Felix heading in the opposite direction, it’s all official now.

As well as that, Armando Broja to Ipswich Town is done – it’s a loan with an obligation to buy clause, which is there in case Ipswich manage to avoid relegation from the Premier League this season. The overall package is worth more than £30m, from what I’m hearing, so this is the agreement, with Broja saying yes to the move and having his medical with the club yesterday.

I’m also told that Chelsea are now very close to selling Romelu Lukaku. The agreement is very close with Napoli, and all parties now believe that the deal will be done. Lukaku has already agreed a three-year contract with Napoli, whose director will be in London to close the deal. There will be a new round of talks in London very soon this week, and the expectation is for Lukaku to become a Napoli player.

We also know that Chelsea have a lot of work to do to clarify the situations of other players, such as Raheem Sterling, Trevoh Chalobah and Carney Chukwuemeka. Sterling has been linked with the likes of Juventus and Aston Villa, but despite rumours, there are no specific clubs to mention yet, but Sterling’s camp is exploring options as he will leave Chelsea. The decision is clear after talking to Maresca, so Sterling is leaving and it’s over with Chelsea. Negotiations will follow in the next days with several possibilities.

Arsenal relaxed over Merino transfer and another agreement in place

The expectation remains for the Mikel Merino deal to happen, it’s just about working on the details of the deal, with Arsenal very relaxed and confident. As well as that, we could see some players leave Arsenal before the end of the window, such as Eddie Nketiah and Aaron Ramsdale.

With Nketiah, we know Nottingham Forest are interested. However, Forest have also shown an interest in Santiago Gimenez – their bid has been rejected by Feyenoord, €26m plus add-ons was still not enough. Forest have advanced in talks with Arsenal and also with Nketiah as he’s accepted the proposal on contract. Forest remain attentive to Gimenez situation but as of last night, Nketiah is the favourite striker option for them.

Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah could be set to join Nottingham Forest

There have been many rumours about Ramsdale, but he has several possibilities. One of those is Bournemouth because they will not be signing Giorgi Mamardashvili anymore as part of the Liverpool-Valencia deal. Bournemouth are continuing to look for a new goalkeeper and Ramsdale is an option.

Wolves could also be one to watch as they’re keeping a close eye on the situation of Ramsdale, but as of today Arsenal are rejecting all loan proposals as they only want a permanent transfer or a loan with obligation. Let’s see if they will find a solution, but the overall feeling from sources in the industry is that Ramsdale will leave Arsenal before the end of the summer transfer window.

Arsenal already have an agreement with Joan Garcia to replace Ramsdale if he leaves. The Espanyol goalkeeper, 23, won the Olympics final with Spain this summer, and he has an agreement on a contract with Arsenal. Now it’s down to a club-to-club agreement, but that’s not going to be a problem from what I’m hearing, so when Ramsdale leaves they will be ready with an official bid for Garcia, this is the idea.

Finally on Arsenal, there have been some headlines again about Mikel Arteta and a new contract. I’m still on the same position that I mentioned in June, which is that I fully expect Arteta to sign a new deal at Arsenal. My info in June was clear, he wants to stay and Arsenal are super happy with him. The plan is absolutely to continue together with a new deal.

Latest on Liverpool’s new goalkeeper and a big potential sale

As I said above, Giorgi Mamardashvili is no longer going to Bournemouth, with the idea being that Liverpool could sign him before he then goes back on loan to Valencia until summer 2025. Mamardashvili has already said yes to Liverpool, and yes to the possibility of staying at Valencia on loan, so it’s close.

The clubs are now trying to complete the final details of the deal, with Alisson to stay as the Liverpool number one for this season. There is still some work to do, but Mamardashvili is close to Liverpool and there is optimism to make it happen.

Meanwhile, Sepp van den Berg is set to leave Liverpool. It will be more than Liverpool expected as they looked for a fee of £20m, but they had several proposals and so they will make £25m for Van den Berg. Brentford and Bayer Leverkusen are both pushing, so let’s see what happens there, but for sure one more outgoing is imminent for Liverpool.

Truth about Ederson and Eriksen transfer situations

Many people have been asking me about Ederson to Manchester United rumours in the last 24 hours. However, as I’ve always been saying, Manuel Ugarte is their top target in midfield and the full focus is on that deal. Man United remain optimistic on Ugarte and they are working on that deal, it could be a loan with obligation from Paris Saint-Germain.

So, it’s progressing well and Ugarte wants to go to Manchester United, he has an agreement and is pushing like crazy to get his move to Old Trafford. Other names like Ederson may have been linked, but the full focus is on Ugarte and also Atalanta don’t want to sell Ederson anyway.

We’re also hearing some speculation about outgoings at United, like with Christian Eriksen. Despite some talk of a return to Ajax, I have no concrete updates on Eriksen so far. We’ve had many rumours but the reality is that Man United have still no proposals on the table, so let’s see what happens in the next few days, but it’s quiet now.

There are also no concrete updates yet on Kobbie Mainoo and a new contract. Man United have been working on Mainoo’s new deal for months, some talks already took place, but now all their energy is being focused on the final eight days of the summer transfer window, then they will resume talks for Mainoo, who is considered a key part of the project.

‘Here we go’ for Gundogan to Man City, plus Vitor Roque’s future

As reported yesterday, Ilkay Gundogan to Manchester City is a ‘here we go’ – the player’s agents were in Manchester in the last 24 hours and he is set to be allowed to leave Barcelona as a free agent.

Barca informed Gundogan of the decision to let him leave on a free transfer, and now he’s said his goodbyes to his teammates as he prepares to return for a second spell at Man City, with Pep Guardiola key to this deal.

Another Barcelona exit to watch is Vitor Roque, who now looks set to move to Real Betis on loan rather than choosing a permanent move to Sporting Lisbon. Roque also had other offers, Al Hilal for sure, but the player rejected them. Then in Italy also Lazio considered a move for Roque, but Sporting were pushing with €20m plus add-ons bid, rejected by the player as he wants to stay in Spain.

It’s not been an easy time for him at Barca so far, but in football things can change fast, so his Barca future, in my opinion, is still open as his performances at Betis will mark his future.

‘Here we go’ for Chelsea plus truth about surprise Jadon Sancho links

Joao Felix to Chelsea is a ‘here we go’ – it’s done, and it’s a permanent transfer, an investment of around €40m plus add-ons. Felix will sign a six-year deal at Chelsea plus the option for one further season.

Felix is very happy to return to Chelsea, and when he found out about this opportunity he was more than excited – he always felt that Chelsea was the perfect place for him after a very good few months there on loan in the second half of the 2022/23 season.

Felix had a very good feeling at Chelsea but when Mauricio Pochettino arrived as manager he decided not to sign him permanently, so it was not the Chelsea board, but now that Pochettino is no longer at Chelsea, they will proceed to bring in Felix on a permanent transfer. He’s travelled to London for his medical tests, it will then take a bit of time to formally complete everything and then Felix will be unveiled as a new Chelsea player.

I’m aware there have been some reports of Manchester United expecting Chelsea to move for Jadon Sancho, but my understanding for now is that Chelsea’s full focus was and is on Joao Felix. I’m not aware of anything else at this point, but I can also confirm as I said several times that Jadon Sancho’s future is still open. Things can still happen for Jadon, it’s clear feeling on both club and player side. Let’s see what’s going to happen.

One final point on Felix after he spent last season on loan at Barcelona as I’ve had some questions about why Barca didn’t keep him. In the end, they preferred to move for Dani Olmo, also because Atletico Madrid were only selling Felix this summer and not considering another loan. Deco is big fan of Olmo and decided to proceed with him as priority target, just a technical choice by the club. Felix is very happy to go to Chelsea, I can guarantee that.

Another Chelsea story to watch could be with Carney Chukwuemeka as Enzo Maresca hinted he’s not sure the young midfielder will see regular playing time this season. I can confirm that there is a possibility for Carney to leave – there are clubs interested in the Premier League but also abroad, for example Crystal Palace, but also more clubs so there’s nothing clear on his next destination yet, but options are being assessed.

Mikel Merino to Arsenal latest, plus Nketiah and Ramsdale suitors

Mikel Merino to Arsenal is still on – the Gunners are absolutely going to proceed with that one, it’s a work in progress as there are still some details to clarify, but the deal is on, the expectation is still that he will become an Arsenal player.

In terms of outgoings, Eddie Nketiah is one of the options for Nottingham Forest, though they also like Santiago Gimenez, so let’s see how that one will progress, but it’s another option for Nketiah after a deal with Marseille collapsed.

Aaron Ramsdale also remains one to watch before the end of the summer. To be clear, Arsenal want a permanent sale for Ramsdale – they keep rejecting loan possibilities. Wolves and also Bournemouth are interested, both are attentive to the situation but neither club are submitting a permanent transfer proposal so far. My expectation is still for Ramsdale to leave Arsenal, in any case.

Why Ilkay Gundogan is leaving Barcelona

There could be outgoings from Barcelona, with Vitor Roque one name who will need to decide his future as there is interest from Sporting Lisbon in a permanent transfer, and from Real Betis in a loan deal. Roque will have to decide, but there’s also the club, the agents, many people involved, so these conversations will lead to a decision very soon.

And of course Ilkay Gundogan’s departure is one of the big stories of the moment, he will be leaving Barcelona as the decision has been made on the club side. Barca have informed Gundogan that they have different plans, talks have taken place, and now a return to Manchester City is one of the options for the German midfielder.

It’s a financial matter for Barca – they need money and getting Gundogan’s salary off their books can help in this sense. Man City have been informed of the possibility of re-signing Gundogan in the recent days and they like the idea, especially Pep Guardiola, who already said yes to this possibility. Now it’s up to Gundogan, as he has also received proposals from clubs in Qatar and Saudi.

A return to City is a really concrete possibility, and there have been contacts between the club and the agents of the player. It’s just on Gundogan now to see if he wants to go back or if he wants to try something new in a different league and what kind of move he wants together with his family.

Still, contacts have taken place and Guardiola believes Gundogan’s return could be something perfect for Man City, so it’s a yes from the manager, and we just need to wait and see what Gundogan will decide in terms of where he wants him and his family to be for the next couple of years.

It will also be interesting to see what Barca do in terms of incomings, because they are not done yet on the market. They remain interested in Joao Cancelo, so keep an eye on that one, while another name heading out could be Mikayil Faye.

Possible breakthrough for Manuel Ugarte to Man Utd transfer

Manuel Ugarte has always been the priority midfield target for Manchester United, but the issue has always been the price. Now what’s going on together with Paris Saint-Germain and Ugarte’s agent Jorge Mendes is that there are discussions ongoing over a potential loan with an obligation to buy.

So, it would essentially still be a permanent transfer for Ugarte to Man United, but it allows United to start paying from next summer and probably to spread the payment out over the next few years. Negotiations are ongoing, so let’s see if the clubs can find a solution.

Ugarte, as I always said, is pushing like crazy to join Man United – he is insisting to get this move, and now United are working to get it done. It’s also worth noting that one of their alternatives, Sander Berge, is no longer available as he’s been in London to have a medical with Fulham. This also means Fulham are not signing Scott McTominay.

Nothing concrete on Marc Guehi to Liverpool

Despite reports, my understanding is that there is nothing concrete yet for Marc Guehi to Liverpool. Appreciation for the player has been there since February but there have been no bids as of tonight. Newcastle’s interest in Guehi remains after bids rejected, but now Palace sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham, so it’s not going to be easy.
