Newcastle are believed to be interested in bringing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo to St James’ Park in 2025 as Eddie Howe looks to strengthen his front line.

This summer was a disappointing one for the Magpies as their main objective was to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules and keep hold of their star players such as Anthony Gordon.

The Tyneside club did both successfully, however, in terms of adding to Howe’s squad, the transfer window was underwhelming.

Newcastle also failed to secure their top target in Marc Guehi as Crystal Palace turned down multiple bids for the centre-back. The positive for fans of the Premier League outfit is that they will now have money to spend in 2025 and according to GIVEMESPORT, Newcastle are ready to battle Liverpool and Arsenal for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Howe is said to be attracted to Mbeumo’s versatility as the 25-year-old can play anywhere across the frontline, an area the English coach is keen to strengthen at St James’ Park.

The Brentford star has been a solid addition to the Premier League ever since Brentford’s promotion back in 2021 and has started the current campaign with three goals across the Bees’ opening three matches.

Brentford are said to want around £50m for Mbeumo and with a contract expiring at the Gtech Stadium in 2026, it remains to be seen if any of the interested parties are willing to match this asking price.

Aston Villa are among five Premier League clubs eyeing a move for Brentford striker Bryan Mbuemo according to reports.

Having qualified for the Champions League last season Villa were one of the busier clubs in the window this summer with a number of new faces coming in.

Unai Emery’s men spent big on the likes of Amadou Onana and Ian Maatsen, whilst they also sold Douglas Luiz and club record signing Moussa Diaby.

Villa interested in Mbuemo

Unai Emery’s side have started the season with two wins from their first three Premier League games and will be looking to replicate their feats of last season.

They have a difficult task of juggling the demands of the Champions League and the Premier League, but they appear to have a built a squad capable of giving it a good go.

The summer window may have only recently closed but there are already players being linked with a move to Villa Park.

A number of Premier League clubs are believed to be interested in Mbuemo.

Football Insider have reported that Villa are one of five Premier League clubs interested in signing Brentford’s Mbuemo.

The report adds that Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester City and Newcastle are the other clubs interested in the Brentford man.

The Bees turned down a bid of £25m for the Cameroon international, who has two years remaining on his current deal from Nottingham Forest earlier this summer.

It seemingly doesn’t make much sense for Villa to be linked with another forward given the attacking options they have, but they could potentially be planning ahead incase Jhon Duran, who has two goals in three Premier League games this season leaves the club in the next couple of windows.

Mbuemo, who has been at Brentford since 2019 after joining from French side Troyes can play across the front line and has made 203 appearances for the Bees, scoring 53 goals and providing 43 assists.

The summer transfer window has only recently closed for business, but the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal are already looking ahead to January for their next targets.

Indeed, the Premier League pair are likely to go head-to-head for one player in particular, with Newcastle also expressing an interest in their services.

The player in question is Brentford’s versatile attacker, Bryan Mbeumo.

Liverpool and Arsenal want Bryan Mbeumo

According to Give Me Sport, all three clubs will try to tempt the Bees into parting with a player that has 46 goal and assist contributions since the 2021/22 campaign.

Given that the West London outfit have recently lost Ivan Toney to the Saudi Pro League, one can imagine that Brentford manager, Thomas Frank, will be loathe to lose another talent who has brought regular goals to the club.

With a market value of €40m according to transfermarkt and a weekly wage of £45,000 (Capology), he’s certainly within the reach of his suitors but, importantly, his contract doesn’t end until 2026 and Brentford retain the option for another season.

Bryan Mbeumo could be on his way to either Liverpool, Arsenal or Newcastle in 2025
Bryan Mbeumo could be on his way to either Liverpool, Arsenal or Newcastle in 2025

Therefore, if they were going to decide to let him go, for example because the player himself had expressed an interest in doing so, it would make sound business sense for the Bees to activate the one-year option in order to acquire more money from any potential transfer.

At this stage, the player hasn’t made any noises as to whether he wishes to try a new adventure elsewhere, though if the opportunity arose, it would be difficult for him to turn down at this stage of his career.

The club buying him would arguably see the best years of his career, and that has to be a price worth paying.

England international and now Al Ahli striker, Ivan Toney, will be laughing all the way to the bank thanks to his move to the Saudi Pro League.

The 28-year-old made a deadline day switch in a transfer fiasco that involved Victor Osimhen, and which has most certainly worked out better for the former Brentford man.

According to Capology, Toney was on a not insignificant £20,000 per week gross whilst with the Bees.

Ivan Toney’s astonishing weekly wage in Saudi

For a player that only found the net on four occasions in 23/24 (transfermarkt), notwithstanding that he missed the first half of the season, one could argue that he didn’t really earn his keep.

A summer move was always on the cards, and whilst moving to Saudi Arabia might not have been his first choice, Toney is now set for life.

The Daily Telegraph (subscription required) have noted that he will earn a reported £400,000 per week after tax, and suggest that to earn the same net figure in English football would’ve required him to earn close to £1m per week.

Given that Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne is the current top earner in the Premier League at £400,000 per week gross (Square Mile), Toney’s new deal puts the Belgian and every other player in the English top-flight firmly in the shade in salary terms.

X account HLTCO note that, in fact, Toney is now the highest paid English player in world football, earning more than twice as much in a day now as he used to earn in a week.

It’s an astonishing turn of events for a player that appeared to once be on the radar of some of England’s top clubs but who, perhaps because of his lack of recent goals, turned their back on him.

Not that Toney will necessarily be worried about that now, even if his career at the elite level might be considered to be over.

Ivan Toney has completed a shock move from Brentford to Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.

Despite missing most of last season due to a ban related to gambling offences, Toney has been courted by some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, Tottenham and West Ham.

That’s thanks largely to his record of 36 goals and 11 assists in 83 top-flight appearances for the Bees over the last three campaigns, as well as his 31 goals in 45 Championship appearances to help them earn promotion in 2020/21.

Toney was part of England’s squad that reached the final at Euro 2024 over the summer, making three substitute appearances for the Three Lions in Germany.

Tottenham and West Ham were arguably the clubs most seriously linked with Toney earlier this summer, but the former chose to sign Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth, while the latter acquired Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

Ivan Toney completes Al-Ahli transfer

Despite seemingly having the pick of some of England’s top clubs, it’s the Saudi Pro League where Toney will now continue his career.

As confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, the 28-year-old has completed a £40m move to Al-Ahli, with the medical and contract negotiations all agreed.

All that is left for Toney to do now is to travel to Saudi Arabia this weekend for his formal presentation.

Al-Ahli had previously been heavily linked with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen but that deal is now off.

Managed by former Hoffenheim centre-back and ex-RB Salzburg boss Matthias Jaissle, Al-Ahli already boast a number of high-profile stars in their squad, including Liverpool legend Roberto Firmino, ex-Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Man City and Leicester title-winner Riyad Mahrez.

Al-Ahli are regular challengers at the top of the Saudi Pro League and finished third last season, but haven’t won the title since the 2015/16 campaign.

Newcastle still in for Guehi… but Palace making it very difficult

At the moment, it’s still very difficult for Newcastle to land Marc Guehi.

The deal is not 100% off yet and Newcastle will try until the end, but Palace are insisting on their valuation being met so it remains complicated.

Palace have always been making it difficult for Newcastle this summer and they’re not changing their position now either.

No interest in Gyokeres and Ivan Toney’s future still up in the air

There has been zero movement for Viktor Gyökeres this summer. Nothing at all.

For Ivan Toney, he remains a strong option for Al Ahli if Osimhen goes to Chelsea… or he can be an option for Chelsea if Osimhen goes to Al Ahli.

As of Thursday night, nothing is clear and we have to be patient and see what happens.

There could be surprises.

Could be a busy final day for Chelsea

I’m told that someone from Brentford called Chelsea for Ben Chilwell. Well, let’s see if they will make a bid on deadline day or not.

For Trevoh Chalobah, we heard about Stuttgart. Fake news. I’m told that Stuttgart are not working on a deal for Chalobah but there are other clubs interested, also from England, so there could be movement.

Just to give you an example, there are many clubs looking at defenders for the final day, like Crystal Palace, so there could be opportunities for Chalobah.

And then there is Raheem Sterling.

We’ll have to see what happens with Jadon Sancho first because Sancho is another big topic, but as of Thursday night the deal for him to go to Juventus is in total standby. Man United rejected the improved bid from Juventus yesterday.

What about Chelsea? Chelsea are obviously very busy with the Victor Osimhen deal, but they are keeping contacts active in the Sancho story.

Chelsea are working on it, then let’s see what they will get in the next 24 hours.

A lot of noise around Lindelof but everything is calm

There’s a lot of noise in the media at the moment about Victor Lindelof, but it’s always been quiet.

Nothing is happening with Turkish or Italian clubs, and United are not desperate to sell the player as Ten Hag still appreciates him and he’s very calm.

No movements so far.

No Liverpool contact for Alan Varela

I’m receiving many questions from Liverpool fans on Alan Varela.

We always have these kind of stories ahead of headline day so I was checking with my sources on this story, because Varela is a fantastic midfielder. I could spend two hours talking about him.

Many clubs have had an interest in Varela this summer but the answer from Porto has always been the same; he is only leaving for the release clause of €65m.

What I can tell you is that Porto guarantee that they have had no contact from Liverpool, no bid from them.

Their position is clear. If some clubs are interested in Varela, they have to pay €65m, but Porto absolutely want him to stay.

Porto are not open to negotiating, and also want to change his contract in the next month. So, that’s the situation.

Now is not the time to speculate on Pep Guardiola’s future

I understand Fabio Capello has hinted that Pep Guardiola could leave Man City next summer.

I’ve zero information on this now guys, it’s not a topic for August. Pep will decide later, not in August or early September.

I respect Fabio Capello of course but again, zero concrete information on Guardiola now, it’s all speculation.

Barça can’t afford Adrien Rabiot and he remains available

Let me say this about the rumours placing Adrien Rabiot at Barca guys…

Barca had problems with La Liga when trying to sign Bajcetic on loan, and Rabiot’s salary is probably x4 compared to Bajcetic…

It’s difficult to imagine this deal happening for that reason.

It’s all quiet at Barca at the moment because of La Liga and Financial Fair Play, and as for Rabiot, he is still waiting for an opportunity.

He remains available.

My favourite deal of the summer window is…

My favourite deal of the summer transfer window so far has been probably Joao Neves to PSG.

I consider him a top talent and probably underrated.

He was very good value when he signed for PSG and I think it’s been a great piece of business.

Chelsea are really leaving things late in terms of nailing down a striker in the current transfer window, and if their bid to sign Victor Osimhen fails, they could end up with an injury-prone replacement.

At the time of writing, it’s understood that Saudi Pro League club, Al Ahli, have not only agreed a deal with Napoli for Osimhen – and are just awaiting the player’s approval – but they’ve also agreed a deal with Brentford’s Ivan Toney.

Clearly, they’re hedging their bets but have covered themselves regardless.

Calvert-Lewin to Chelsea if Osimhen deal fails

At this stage it isn’t clear if the Blues can afford either Osimhen or Toney because of Financial Fair Play, and on that basis, according to Football Transfers, they’re monitoring Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s situation along with Arsenal.

In the last three seasons alone, the 27-year-old Everton hit-man has received a broken toe, a broken cheekbone, had four separate hamstring injuries, a knee injury, had general fitness concerns and been ill according to transfermarkt.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the radar of Chelsea and Arsenal
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is on the radar of Chelsea and Arsenal

That’s hardly the best resume for a striker that would be expected to be the main man at Stamford Bridge and hit the ground running.

Not to mention that the Chelsea faithful will already be expecting to be disappointed if they’ve lost out on Osimhen and seen him replaced by Calvert-Lewin, with respect.

The Gunners might yet pip Chelsea to the post given that their need for a striker is as acute as the West Londoners.

Calvert-Lewin only has a year left on his contract and appears reluctant to sign a new deal at Everton, so could prove to be a low-cost option that Mikel Arteta will believe he can improve.

Until the 11pm deadline on Friday night, anything can happen, and fans of both Chelsea and Arsenal will be waiting to understand if either have managed to get a deal done in time.

Brentford attacker Ivan Toney has been linked with a move away from the club for a long time.

The biggest Premier League clubs have monitored his progress over the last two seasons.

Since his introduction in the Premier League with Brentford, Toney has impressed clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and West Ham United.

The striker is finally on his way to seal a £40m move on transfer deadline day.

According to Sky Sports, Brentford and Al-Ahli have reached an agreement over the transfer of Toney.

The move is set to cost the Saudi Pro League club around £40m for the striker who had entered the final year of his contract with the Bees.

Ivan Toney Brentford
Ivan Toney has agreed a deal to join Al-Ahli.

Toney needed a move away from the club and he has finally got his wish. He would have preferred to stay in the Premier League though, but the lucrative Saudi Arabian team have won the race to sign him.

The player has been left out of the Brentford squad by manager Thomas Frank, who has given the attacker time away from football to sort out his future.

Ivan Toney was a part of the England squad for Euro 2024

Toney featured for England at Euro 2024 this summer and helped the team reach the final, where they lost to Spain.

He is set to become another high profile player to leave one of the biggest European leagues for a move to Saudi Arabia.

It remains to be seen if Toney has made the right decision to leave the Premier League to move to Middle East.

The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Neymar and some of the biggest names in world football have left the European leagues in recent seasons to move to Saudi Arabia.

The final few hours of the summer transfer window promises to be as frenetic as they come, and Victor Osimhen’s movements are expected to have a knock-on effect elsewhere.

The Nigerian hit-man’s story has dominated the entirety of the window, and yet here we are on the final day and there’s still no decision on exactly where the player will end up.

A game of brinksmanship that appears to have been played right across the summer might blow up in the player’s face, though there is still the option to join Chelsea on the table.

Chelsea have options if Osimhen doesn’t sign

It would appear that the Blues have been favourites for his signature all along, but they’ve certainly left things late if they want to get what’s proving to be a very difficult deal over the line.

There could still be a twist in the tail yet of course, but in that eventuality, Chelsea do have a fall-back option.

Ivan Toney is an option for Chelsea if they don't sign Victor Osimhen

“For Ivan Toney, he remains a strong option for Al Ahli if Osimhen goes to Chelsea,” Fabrizio Romano said to CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

Clearly, Chelsea are going to have to work hard and fast to get either the Osimhen or Toney deals done before the deadline.

For the former, he’s always seemingly been crystal clear that he will leave Napoli this summer and no doubt expected to have a queue of suitors.

Were Chelsea to back out of any deal, it leaves a player in his prime essentially being railroaded into a move to the Saudi Pro League, the 68th best in the world according to TeamForm.

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has advised his old club to sign someone like Ivan Toney to replicate what Manchester City did in the transfer market when they brought in Erling Haaland.

The Frenchman feels Mikel Arteta is still lacking a goal-scorer who can get them 20 or more goals a season, similar to how Man City were before they brought in Haaland, when they largely relied on a few different players sharing the goals and contributing around 10-15 a season.

Arsenal are certainly not short of players who can contribute numbers like that, with Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard all capable of scoring double figures, but it perhaps seems a bit of a risk not to bring in someone who’s more of a clinical finisher.

Toney could be ideal as he’s still at Brentford but with just a year left on his contract, so one imagines Arsenal could get a deal done if they wanted to, and it probably wouldn’t cost a fortune.

Ivan Toney to Arsenal?

Petit seems to think someone like Toney is now what’s needed for Arsenal to replicate City and perhaps finally take their Premier League crown.

Toney transfer: Arsenal urged to sign a striker by ex-Gunner

“Arsenal need a 20-goals-per-season striker, they currently have a few players who can score 10-15 goals per season, like how Man City used to be,” Petit told Gamblingzone, as quoted by the Metro.

Pep Guardiola changed the system because he knew he needed a striker who could score lots of goals. In Erling Haaland’s first season, he broke goal-scoring records and won the Champions League.

“Mikel Arteta will follow the steps of Guardiola, the way their teams play and a striker would be a cherry on top of the cake.

“I think Nico Williams or someone like Ivan Toney could replicate Haaland’s output at Arsenal.

“Toney has a great relationship with Bryan Mbeumo, understanding the timing and movements of your teammates is something important for Arsenal and I think he could be the man that spearheads them to the title – a late move could do them wonders.”
