Leeds United are reportedly keen on signing the Bournemouth midfielder Philip Billing during the January transfer window.

According to Gune Bakis, the 28-year-old Danish midfielder is on the radar and it remains to be seen whether the Championship outfit decide to make a move for him in the coming months.

Billing has been a key player for the Cherries since joining them in 2019 for a fee of around £15 million. The midfielder has picked up 31 goals and 20 assists since moving to Bournemouth and he could be an important player for Leeds United as well.

Clubs in Turkey are keen on signing the 28-year-old midfielder as well, and it will be interesting to see if they manage to get a deal done for the midfielder before the summer window closes. The summer transfer window in Turkey closes on 13th September and they have a few days to pull off the transfer.

Philip Billing would be a superb addition

Leeds will certainly hope that Billing stays with the Cherries for now and joins them in January. They will be desperate to secure promotion to the Premier League this time around and they need quality players at their disposal.

The 28-year-old midfielder will add creativity, goals, drive and physicality to their midfield. He could be a superb addition for Leeds during the second half of the season and he could galvanise the team.

Billing has shown his quality in the Premier League with the Cherries and there is no doubt that he is good enough for the Championship as well. Leeds need more quality and depth at their disposal in order to return to the English top flight. The Bournemouth star could prove to be a transformative addition for them.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds can agree on a reasonable fee with the Cherries for the experienced midfielder when the transfer window reopens in January.

Arsenal goalkeeper Neto has recalled a moment playing against the Gunners that made him want to ‘get into a hole and not get out’.

The veteran goalkeeper signed for the 13-time English champions from Bournemouth this summer and will now provide backup to No.1 David Raya following the sale of Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton.

Neto grew up watching Arsenal as a youngster in Brazil and, speaking to the club’s official website, revealed the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Edu and Gilberto Silva were among his idols.

However, Neto hasn’t enjoyed playing against Arsenal in the past, losing all four meetings with the Gunners for Valencia and Bournemouth, combined.

Neto recalls painful Arsenal memory

It was a Premier League clash while playing for the Cherries in March 2023 that hurt the most.

Bournemouth took the lead inside the first minute through Philip Billing, while Marcos Senesi made it 2-0 just before the hour-mark.

However, Arsenal hit back with 62nd and 70th-minute strikers from Thomas Partey and Ben White, respectively.

It looked like both sides would have to settle for a point until Arsenal substitute Reiss Nelson fired home a winning goal in the seventh minute of second-half stoppage time.

Reiss Nelson (L) celebrates after scoring his team third goal of the team during the English Premier League football match between Arsenal and Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium in London on March 4, 2023.

While the Emirates was sent into chaos, Neto wanted nothing more than to hide away from the club he grew up loving.

“I remember that day – my family came to watch the game, my two kids and my wife – and we played very well against Arsenal, they were in first place in the table as well,” Neto recalled. “I remember when I finished the game, I came home and we were struggling in the table and I just thought to myself that I wanted to get into a hole and not get out, because we had the opportunity [to win] and then it was gone.

“It was a really nice game, and now to be on this side, to be able to enjoy and try to give some important achievements to this club, it’s amazing.

“To all the supporters of Arsenal, I’d just like to say I’m one more fan here. My dream has come true, I’m really happy and depend on me, I’ll give more than 100% to give everything for Arsenal.”

It’s been quite the time to be a fan of West Ham United, with technical director, Tim Steidten, going above and beyond in the transfer market this summer.

Though it may take some time for the nine new signings that the German has managed to bring in for new first-team coach, Julen Lopetegui, to gel, it heralds a new era in East London.

The club had seen relative success under previous managerial incumbent David Moyes, and three European qualifications on the bounce for the first time in the club’s entire history, as well as their first major trophy in over 40 years certainly can’t be sniffed at.

West Ham will have to battle to land Joel Matip

However, the football had become stale and predictable, and if there’s one thing that the East Londoners enjoy, it’s when their team play good football – something that was missing far too often in the latter stages of Moyes’ tenure.

There could still be more new faces arriving at the London Stadium too, with CaughtOffside sources noting that the Irons are interested in former Liverpool stalwart, Joel Matip.

West Ham are interested in Joel Matip

The 33-year-old defender is a free agent after leaving the Reds, and it’s understood that the Hammers have already made Matip the offer of a two-year contract.

They’ll face a challenge to land him and make it a perfect 10 signings this summer, however.

Sources also advance that all of Leicester City, Fulham and Bournemouth have also made their interest known, and as of this moment, the player has yet to make a final decision regarding his future.

That would suggest that he isn’t completely convinced by West Ham’s proposal, and with time on his side, he can afford to be picky as to where he wants to continue his football career.

Man United will reportedly look to sign a new left-back next year.

The Red Devils have two senior left backs; Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.

However, both players have suffered injury-stuck campaigns, forcing Erik Ten Hag to play centre-back Lisandro Martinez and natural right-back Diogo Dalot at left-back.

Man United still interested in Milos Kerkez

Consequently, according to a recent report from GiveMeSport, United are preparing to bring in a new, more durable, young left-sided full-back with Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez among the options.

Milos Kerkez is on Man United’s radar.

This isn’t the first time the Hungary international has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. On United’s radar for quite some time, the Cherries’ defender is set to become a target again.

What this could mean for Shaw and Malacia remains to be seen, but with the former seeing his career held back by injuries, and three years left on his deal, 2025 may be the time United, with their new ruthless approach to recruitment thanks to new minority owners INEOS, decide cut him loose.

Everton looked set for their first win of the season after taking a 2-0 lead against Bournemouth, but a dramatic turnaround saw the Cherries secure a stunning 3-2 victory.

The Merseyside club took control early in the second half with goals from Michael Keane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, putting them 2-0 up and seemingly on course for their first three points of the season.

Despite their two-goal advantage, Bournemouth staged a remarkable comeback in the final 9 minutes of the match.

Antoine Semenyo ignited the rally with a goal in the 87th minute, followed by Lewis Cook’s header in the 92nd minute to level the score.

The drama reached its peak when Luis Sinisterra scored a brilliant header in the 96th minute, completing the Cherries’ extraordinary comeback and sealing a 3-2 victory.

Watch the goals below:

The defeat compounds Everton’s dismal start to the season. After a 3-0 loss to Brighton in their opener and a 4-0 thrashing by Tottenham last week, Everton have now lost all three of their games so far.

Arsenal are in talks to sign Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto as the replacement for Aaron Ramsdale, according to reports.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a new No.2 to back-up David Raya with Ramsdale on the verge of signing for Southampton in a £25m deal (per BBC Sport).

Ramsdale was a regular during his first two seasons at the Emirates, playing 78 games across all competitions during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 campaigns combined.

However, the five-time England international was relegated to back-up status following the arrival of Raya on loan from Brentford last summer, managing just 11 appearances across all competitions and only six in the Premier League.

With Raya’s loan made permanent, there was little chance of Ramsdale’s situation improving, so the 26-year-old will now look to get his career back on track at St. Mary’s.

Arsenal pursuing two possible Ramsdale replacements

Goalkeeper Neto of AFC Bournemouth during the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Newcastle United FC at Vitality Stadium on August 25, 2024 in Bournemouth, England.

Of course, 11 games can still be enough to define a season, so Arsenal will need to move quickly on deadline day in order to bring in an experienced back-up goalkeeper who can suitably cover for and challenge Raya.

According to Sky Sports journalists Mark McAdam and Dharmesh Sheth, Neto has become the Gunners’ top target following a previous pursuit of Espanyol’s Joan Garcia — although two goalkeepers could be signed before the closure of the transfer window.

“Arsenal and Bournemouth are currently in talks over a potential deal for goalkeeper Neto,” their report states.

“This comes after Aaron Ramsdale’s departure from the Emirates and Mikel Arteta’s desire to ensure competition for the number one shirt.

“The 35-year-old shot-stopper has two years left on his contract at the Vitality Stadium and has started all three of their games to start the 2024/25 campaign.

“Arsenal had previously been working on a deal for Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, which has not been ruled out, but Neto seems more likely.

“Two keepers could arrive on Deadline Day.”

Neto has played 63 times across all competitions since joining Bournemouth from Barcelona in 2022, including three times at the start of this season.

However, following the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea, the one-time Brazil international is unlikely to remain the Cherries’ No.1 throughout this season, meaning a move to the Emirates may feel far more attractive for the 35-year-old.

Chelsea still in the race for Victor Osimhen

There have been many reports on the Victor Osimhen story in the last 24-48 hours, but some of these are, from what I’m hearing, not 100% accurate, so I wanted to clear that up here.

First of all, if you’ve been following me on here, you’ll know I always said Osimhen was going to be something for the final days of the window. The only club that had the chance to change this was Paris Saint-Germain back in July – they had an agreement with Osimhen back then, but then everything collapsed.

Then, in August, Napoli and Chelsea started to talk about Osimhen, as well as Romelu Lukaku and these kind of things. I always said that Osimhen would not go on loan – it would have to be a permanent transfer or a loan with obligation. So, now we’re at the final days, what’s going on?

Al Ahli have a delegation in Italy to meet with Napoli and the agent of Osimhen. Meanwhile, Chelsea are still talking with Osimhen and his agent – they are still in a negotiation for Osimhen, as of late last night.

Al Ahli have presented a very important proposal to Osimhen, worth €25-30m per season for the next four years. It’s not true that the player doesn’t want to go to Saudi. He’s never said no to Saudi, he’s never rejected them, despite the statement from his agent. Al Ahli never gave up on this deal, they are still there.

The most important thing for Osimhen, however, is a release clause. He always wanted a release clause with Al Ahli and they have accepted this. They have basically given Osimhen everything he wants – everything is on the table for Osimhen to go to Saudi, and talks are also taking place with Napoli.

But it’s important to say that Chelsea are still not giving up on this deal. Osimhen is still talking to Chelsea and waiting to see if they can reach an agreement – he is giving them a chance, and forget any stories about deadlines, it’s the final two days of the window so it’s obvious that there is not much time to get this done and the next 24 hours will be important, but there is no deadline being set by Osimhen.

Victor Osimhen to Chelsea?

So, now it’s important to see if Chelsea can make it happen on the salary point of view and the transfer fee point of view. They have a chance because Al Ahli have made Osimhen exactly the proposal he wants, but he’s still waiting, and it’s on Chelsea to reach an agreement, or he’ll be ready to go to Saudi. It’s not easy for Chelsea to compete with the kind of money the Saudis can offer, but they are really making an effort.

Jhon Duran also remains super appreciated by Enzo Maresca and people at Chelsea, but it looks really complicated now because Aston Villa would need to sign a replacement and there’s not much time left. Ivan Toney could be an opportunity for the final hours, because if Chelsea or other clubs who are interested in a striker find that other strikers are not available, then Toney is there. But as of last night, Chelsea are still trying to find a way for Osimhen.

One in, one out in midfield for Manchester United, plus truth about those Ben Chilwell links

Scott McTominay will be in Napoli today, ready for his medical tests and contract signing. Manchester United will receive €30.5m and a 10% sell-on clause – it’s 100% confirmed. Meanwhile, Manuel Ugarte is coming in at Man United and has been in Manchester already for the formal steps.

Rio Ferdinand has spoken out to warn United about selling McTominay and I can see what he means, even if it’s not an easy situation. The player wanted to play regularly, Napoli can offer that. But I agree with Rio when he says that Scott is probably an underrated, important player and I really rate him. It’s a fantastic signing for Napoli; but for United it was the only way to get the green light on the Ugarte deal.

I also wanted to clarify some further Man United transfer rumours about Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell. We’ve heard this story a few times, but my understanding is that there are no talks, no negotiations have taken place. United are not looking to sign Chilwell, it’s not happening.

Stefan Bajcetic saga and the truth about Darwin Nunez transfer speculation

I wanted to clarify the situation with Stefan Bajcetic as it’s been an important few hours at Liverpool. Firstly, everything was agreed for Bajcetic to move on loan to Red Bull Salzburg, but then Barcelona called and presented Liverpool with a proposal for a loan. It was a €4m loan fee, with no buy option or obligation, and Barca also called the player to try to persuade him.

So, what happened? While Barcelona tried to make this deal happen, they also had big issues with Financial Fair Play, so it was an issue for them to get the green light from La Liga. They spent all day trying to find a way with La Liga, but as of now, still nothing has been approved, so the expectation of the agents of the player, and of Salzburg and of Liverpool and all parties involved, is for Bajcetic to travel tomorrow to Salzburg and complete his move there.

Pep Lijnders, the Salzburg manager and former assistant of Jurgen Klopp, has been calling Bajcetic all day long – he’s been fighting to get the player and to present the project to him in the best way possible. Salzburg are now confident of getting it done.

Staying with Liverpool, I also wanted to say something on Darwin Nunez after some surprise stories about Arsenal. I don’t know where this has come from, but I’ve had many questions about this and so I spoke to some of my sources, and I can honestly say there is nothing.

In general, it’s also not true that Nunez is pushing to leave Liverpool – it’s important to clarify that he is absolutely not planning to leave Liverpool, I can guarantee this. He is really focused on Liverpool and really happy with Arne Slot. Of course it will be an important season for him, but it’s never been a possibility for him to leave this summer and he never asked to go.

As reported yesterday, it’s ‘here we go’ for Federico Chiesa to Liverpool, and I also wanted to clarify that Barcelona never made any bid for the player. It was never anything concrete, and in the end Liverpool moved really fast, though they had also been thinking of Chiesa for a long time. Richard Hughes knows Italian football really well, and he knew Chiesa was a fantastic opportunity.

He’s a player who’s been unlucky with injuries, but I think it’s also important to say that he was unlucky to be at Juventus under a manager like Massimiliano Allegri, who was playing a style of football that was not a good fit for a player like Chiesa. If you look at how Liverpool play, it looks like a very good deal.

Arsenal continue to do well with player sales, but Jakub Kiwior is staying

Aaron Ramsdale to Southampton is a ‘here we go’. The goalkeeper will have his medical today as he’s set to join for a £25m package. And remember that Arsenal have been prepared to go for Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia in order to replace Ramsdale.

He was in the list of Wolves and Bournemouth but they both didn’t want to invest £25m on a GK, Southampton yes and it was quite fast. I think it was a good summer for Arsenal especially on sales, Edu did an important job. It’s never easy to sell players.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have told Jakub Kiwior and his agents two days ago that he has to stay as he’s going to be an important player for them this season. Kiwior was never desperate to leave – he rejected approaches from Premier League and he was only open to returning to Italy, but it was never close.

There have been plenty of stories about a possible Reiss Nelson exit as well, but it depends on proposals, and while I’m writing there is still nothing close on this one.

In other news…

Trevoh Chalobah – Chelsea are still trying to find a solution for Trevoh Chalobah, and his agents too. It’s an open story ahead of the final 48 hours. There’s no lack of suitors but Chelsea have been asking for a permanent move for £30m and it’s difficult for many clubs to invest this kind of money.

Matheus Nunes – Despite rumours, there is nothing concrete into this one as far as I’m aware. Manchester City have not received any bid for Matheus Nunes so far, and my information is that Atletico Madrid can only do a loan which is probably leading them to different candidates.

Rayan Cherki – There is no major update on Cherki now, the situation is open. He’s not interested in a move to Fulham despite some recent reports, and I would not be surprised if he ends up staying at Lyon. PSG were never back in the race in August, it was a fake story.

Nottingham Forest are set to make a late move for Villarreal forward Arnaut Danjuma, according to reports.

Forest have already invested heavily this summer, with the likes of Elliot Anderson, Nikola Milenkovic and Ramon Sosa arriving for substantial fees and Alex Moreno signing on loan from Aston Villa.

But Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to further boost his attacking options in the final days of the transfer window, with Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah reportedly nearing a move to the City Ground.

Nottingham Forest to move for Danjuma

Forest’s offensive push seemingly won’t end with the capture of Nketiah.

According to Football Insider, the Midlands side are also lining up a bid for Danjuma — a player they’ve long admired.

Their report states that Villarreal are ‘prepared’ to let the six-time Netherlands international leave this summer despite him starting the season with two goals in their first two La Liga matches.

The player would prefer a permanent move rather than a loan as he seeks stability in his career.

Struggles at Everton and Spurs

Danjuma has endured a couple of tough years in England, with back-to-back loans with Tottenham and Everton failing to take off.

The 27-year-old managed just 12 appearances for Spurs, scoring twice, while at he played 20 times for the Toffees — mostly off the bench — scoring another two goals.

His only Premier League goal for Tottenham came in a 3-2 home defeat by Bournemouth, after which the Spurs fans booed their team off the pitch. He also scored in a 3-0 win at Preston in the FA Cup.

Both of his goals for Everton came within the space of four days at the start of last season. Danjuma opened his account for the Goodison Park outfit by bagging a late winner at Doncaster in the EFL Cup. He followed up that strike by scoring in a 2-2 Premier League draw at Sheffield United, but then failed to find the net in his final 15 appearances for the club.

However, Danjuma has experienced success in England as well, with his 17 goals and eight assists in 37 appearances for Bournemouth in the 2020/21 campaign — while they were a Championship outfit — still fresh in the memory.

Newcastle United reportedly remain interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford.

The Magpies, whose move for Trafford fell through earlier in the window, have now been joined in pursuit of the former Manchester City academy star.

Wanted by several other Premier League clubs, Eddie Howe faces strong competition for the highly rated 21-year-old.

According to a recent report from TBR Football, in addition to Newcastle, Burnley’s number one is also wanted by Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth, Leicester City and Southampton.

And when it comes to landing the England under-21 European Championship winner all interested clubs have been handed a boost.

Although the Clarets were opposed to selling the 21-year-old earlier in the window, having recently signed goalkeepers Etienne Green and Vaclav Hladky, the club are now ready to let Trafford leave Turf Moor.

Newcastle could open talks for Trafford for a second time this window depending on how quickly they can get a deal to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace over the line.

During his time with Burnley, Trafford, who has three years left on his deal, has kept two clean sheets from 29 games in all competitions.
